Background: Betsy Braddock was Sir James Braddock's second child, and like her twin brother Brian, her life was secretly manipulated by Merlyn. The twins shared a close connection, but as they matured the adventurous Betsy also grew close to their elder brother Jamie. By the time their parents died, apparently in a lab accident but really murdered by the computer Mastermind, Betsy had become a charter pilot. When Mastermind's agent Doctor Synne tried to kill Jamie, a concerned Betsy fetched Brian, but as she flew them home, Synne's psychic attack caused her to crash. When she awoke, Synne's illusions made Betsy attack her brothers, seeing them as monsters. After Synne was defeated she and Jamie were taken hostage by the Red Skull's agents. Freed by Captains America and Britain, Betsy learned the latter was her brother Brian. Perhaps because of Synne's mental intrusions, Betsy began to develop precognitive powers. She took up modeling, while her powers grew to include telepathy. Agent Matthew recruited Betsy into S.T.R.I.K.E.'s Psi Division, and she became fellow psi Tom Lennox's lover. Because her father had been a member, she was sent to infiltrate the Hellfire Club, but was warned off by Tessa for her own protection.
She traveled alone for quite a while dealing with whatever came her way. She did manage to make a few friends along the way, but for the most part she consider herself a solo act. Then she fell in love; she thought for sure her life had changed, but just like she had thought it would something went wrong and she wound up getting injured. She spent almost a year recuperating from the beating she had taken in one of her most gruesome battles up to this point.
When heard about Charles Xavier's school for mutants she decided that signing on as a teacher would be a good way for her to move forward with her life. She contacted Xavier and asked him about a position at the school and he told her that she could become the Government Relations Professor; so she packed up her bags and prepared to move to the school.
Personality: The one thing that most people know about Betsy is that she is extremely loyal to the people that matter the most to her. She is hard working, caring and kind when given the chance to prove herself. Most people miss all of those things however, because her bold nature and her blunt attitude can sometimes turn them off before they get the chance to really know her. The only thing she likes to do more than work is dance; it is not only enjoyable for her, but it is helpful with her agility.
Abilities: Psylocke can generate a telekinetic katana, or direct her telekinesis through her fists to strike as if she had superhuman strength; she is also immune to telepathic probes and attacks. Psylocke's original powers were precognition, telepathy, mental bolts, mind control, and generating illusions. After Roma resurrected her, Betsy was briefly invisible to all mechanical detection devices. She could generate a "psychic knife" to stun or kill opponents. The Crimson Dawn gave her the power to travel via shadows, and to become virtually invisible in same. Psylocke is a skilled martial artist and a trained pilot.
